Listening, making, composing, interacting.
The 6th in a series of unique sound-based trips brought together a diverse group of artists and listeners to explore sound, place, and materiality in an inclusive and inspiring environment.
The 2025 theme, Sounding Objects, focused on field recording—listening to and capturing the sounds of physical materials, from tiny objects to vast landscapes. We explored creative ways of using those recordings in composition, transforming found sounds into musical, textural, and performative elements.
Set in the stunning landscapes of Glenshee, the trip combined recording sessions in lochs, rivers, and mountains with workshops, discussions, and collaborative skill-sharing. Together, we built a temporary community of listeners, discovering new approaches to using field recordings in contemporary sound practice.
